24/11 1pm to 5pm > “死飞小革命” 地点在环铁艺术城的朗朗艺术空间 – Fixed Gear Mini Revolution (Long Long Art Space) 在11月24日NATOOKE将举办“死飞小革命”。不同于每年一次的“死飞大革命”，本次活动将不设“野猫赛”，但仍将保持自行车马球比赛和一些趣味死飞游戏，例如后轮点射比赛，三人随机配组接力赛，创意花式定杆比赛，快速更换内外胎比赛，更有“人&车最相配选美比赛”等。当天请搭配好服装来享受有意思的周末吧！再次（第三次）提示：地点是在环铁艺术城（798艺术区的东北方向）里的朗朗艺术空间！ 本周六11月17日弛子会带领一些朋友去场馆认路，有兴趣的朋友可以在周六下午2点时来店里集合。 Natooke is hosting the first Fixed Gear Mini Revolution. This is like the short cute version of the annual Fixed Gear Revolution initiated by Ines in 2009. The location is outside of the 798 art disctrict, heading further East for a few kilometers. The event includes a bike polo match and fun fixed gear games such as a penalty shootout where you have to use your bike to shoot the ball, a relay childrens’s bikes sprint race with random teams of three, a creative track stand competition, where the person that the most creative trackstand will win, a beautiful bike&person competition where the person that most matches their bike will win (for this you can dress accordingly with your bike, e.g. if your bike is pumpkin red you can come dressed in a pumpkin costume) as well as a speed inner tube changing competition. For half of the games you do not need a bike so if you think the location is too far to cycle to you can come by other means of transportation and still participate. As the location is hard to find Chizi will organize a ride on Saturday November 17th to show you how to get to the venue. So if you have time this week then come to Natooke at 2pm to cycle to the Long Long Art Space.

24/11 & 25/11 > 北京国际高端运动自行车展览会@北京老山 – Laoshan Bike Race and Bike Exhibition 在人们越来越注重低碳、环保、健康的今天，自行车运动被越来越多的人所认识、关注。本次展会是国际一流自行车品牌的集中展示；也是车迷、自行车运动爱好者共享盛宴；如果你对死飞以外的自行车感兴趣，那这次展会是你了解它们的一次很好的机会。在11月24日会有公路车的一些比赛，11月25日会有山地车的一些比赛。在本次展会NATOOKE也会有一个展位，欢迎朋友们的到来！ Beijing Bike is organizing road bike and mountain bike race with bicycle exhibition around it. Natooke will have a booth there. You can come to Natooke and pick up the entry tickets if you want to watch the races or have a look at the various bicycle brands that have their booth at Laoshan bike exhibition. Last week Brandon gave the first Iron Horse seminar teaching everybody how to change an inner tube. Also he taught how to patch a tube. For most of the participants this was the first time (it is so cheap to buy tubes in China, so most people just exchange). This is like the short cute version of the annual Fixed Gear Revolution. There won’t be any big sprint or alley-cat race, but there will be a bike polo competition and other fixed gear games. There will be a penalty shootout where you have to use your back tire to shoot the ball, and a relay sprint race with random teams of three. Other events include a creative track stand competition, where the person that the most impressive trackstand will win, and a beautiful bike competition where the person that most matches their bike will win. So dress accordingly with your bike and have a great time.

伊泉和Natooke团队 Ines & the Natooke Team    NATOOKE万圣节夜骑 Natooke Halloween Ride 万圣节当天，我们的朋友们和很多不认识的新朋友们一起，在短暂的装扮和化妆后，我们由“扫帚女巫“伊泉带领前往北京夜生活聚集地骑行。在三里屯village，超过50名车手刚排好队，立即拥上两倍的围观群众来拍照，以及单独同车手拍照。我们从粉丝当中脱身后，大张旗鼓地经南锣鼓巷最终到后海的时候每个人都已经饥肠辘辘了……哈哈，真是个美妙的万圣夜！

On Halloween our friends as well as new customers were unrecognizable! What great costumes. After some last minute costumes and make-up were put on at Natooke we all rode out towards the busy nightlife areas of Beijing lead by the Natooke witch flying on her broom. At Sanlitun we went to the Village to take a picture of the almost 50 cyclists that came to the ride. Before the group was lined up for the picture there was already the double amount of people all taking pictures of our group and wanting to take pictures with us individually. After we were able to run away from our fans we rode to Nanluoguxiang to spook out that area as well as Houhai lake but then many of us craved for food. What a great night out!

外经贸大学死飞嘉年华 UIBE Ultra Fixieval 由外经贸大学主办的死飞嘉年华野猫赛中，NATOOKE作为赞助提供了一些奖品，并在自己的展台中组织了“极速PK”比赛中，个别选手因太热而脱掉裤子参加而受到很多关注。值得高兴的是，现场DJ自己的死飞被偷一个月以后，在抽奖环节中赢得了由NATOOKE赞助的大奖—-一辆崭新的死飞。特别提醒：大家都应提防偷车贼，他们通常在冬天作案并锁定那些漂亮的自行车！

The University of International Business and Economics organized a festival to promote fixed gear bikes including an alleycat. Natooke sponsored some prizes for the festival and had a booth. Natooke also organized JisuPK roller race that got the guys so hot that they started taking their pants off. The event DJ that had his fixed gear bike stolen 1 month ago but was the lucky one that in the raffle won our Natooke prize bike. BTW: Everybody should take care about bike thieves. It seems they are now targeting the nicer bikes and they steal more in the winter.    “巨脏”木乃伊骑行Big Dirty Mummy Ride 之前虽然在NATOOKE的每周快报里面提到了Big Dirty的木乃伊骑行，但很多朋友还没有看到他们精彩的表演。在把厕纸缠绕全身的装扮过程中，成员们已经吓到很多人，而后他们排成一列穿梭城市更是让人们惊诧。不错，Big Dirty就是不论有没有满身厕纸仍旧全速前行。只要你有自行车—-骑起来吧！ < br> We had posted the Big Dirty group mummy ride on our Natooke newsletter some people that do not know Big Dirty showed up. They might not have understood that to be a mummy you do actually need to wrap your whole body in toilet paper. Some got scared off when we actually started wrapping ourselves. And then as stupid as we looked this bunch of mummies started riding across town. Yes that is Big Dirty. They do what they say and ride hard! No matter with toilet paper or without! If you have a bike – ride it!

The Natooke Bicycle Shop hosted Chengdu’s first “Alleycat” street race this last Saturday, and it was a historic event that drew together hundreds of members of the city’s burgeoning bicycle sub-culture under the Natooke banner.

In case you aren’t familiar with an alleycat (as I wasn’t), it is an informal, urban bicycle street race that demands quick thinking and knowledge of the streets as much as a heavy pedal. Birthed from the bicycle messenger culture of cities like Toronto and New York City, alleycat races can attract hundreds of cyclists who race between checkpoints, often on fixed gear bicycles. But by most accounts alleycat races aren’t just about being the fastest: there’s emphasis on ad-lib fun and debauchery.

“It’s kind of like a scavenger hunt” says co-organizer Jacob Klink. “The points are not revealed until just before the race. It’s not just a test of speed and fitness, but also someone’s wits and their ability to navigate the city.”

This event wasn’t just an alleycat street race. Nicknamed “Zombiecat”, this was a halloween party on wheels, roving across Chengdu in waves of cyclists.

01/11 9pm > 巨脏自行车骑行 – Big Dirty Ride 星期四晚上，巨脏（Big Dirty）的自行车骑行将从Serk店出发。活动通常来说很有意思，大家骑的比平时更疯狂，速度更快一点儿。但是在出发之前，活动会在每个路段设置据点，以便大家赶上来，所以请不必担心。最后大家通常会骑到SERK酒吧相聚，喝点儿小酒再回家。如果你星期四晚上有时间，快来加入吧！ Big Dirty will be riding out from Serk on Thursday night. This ride is usually pretty fun, crazy and a little faster than normal. Don’t be discouraged though because there are set stop points established before setting off. After the ride they meet back up at Serk or ElNido for a few drinks before everyone eventually heads home. Pretty fun ride if you are free Thursday night then check it out.

With their minimalist, elegant frames and endless customizability, the popularity of fixed gear bikes (often known as fixie bikes) has grown exponentially in recent years, especially in urban areas. True to their name, fixed gear bikes have no freewheel, meaning that they cannot coast and the pedals are constantly moving when the bike is in motion. The rider can slow the bike without the aid of additional brakes by resisting the motion of the pedals. This makes for a completely different experience from riding a normal bike; people either love it or hate it.

04/10 9pm > Big Dirty 巨脏自行车骑行 – Big Dirty Bike Ride 我们将会有一个自由骑行的活动。巨脏（Big Dirty）在星期四晚上9:00从SERK自行车店/酒吧出发，没有目的地，骑到哪里是哪里。这会非常有意思，骑得会很快。但是不要担心，我们会在每个路段设置据点，这样大家就都能赶上来，而不必担心会落下。最后每一个人都骑回SERK酒吧 聊聊大家的感受跟生活，还可以喝些饮料跟吃些小吃。 Big Dirty is riding from Serk Bike Shop/Bar at 9:00 this Thursday night. No set route however what is for sure is it will be fun. This ride is a little faster but don’t be worried, there will be stop points established so you can catch up without worrying about being totally left behind. After the ride everyone rides back to Serk for a few drinks and good old fashioned hanging out.

06/10 & 07/10 2pm > 自行车马球 @ 工人体育馆西门 – BIKE POLO @ Worker’s Gymnasium West Gate 跟往常一样我们马球的活动依然会在每个周末工人体育馆里举行。但是不一样的是，我们开始的时间将提前到2：00点开始，因为我们希望大家能有更多的时间来享受马球给大家带来的乐趣。如果你还没有玩过，我们随时欢迎你的到来，我们会有实力“汗”将现场教学。不管你骑什么车，只要你喜欢，任何人都可以参加我们的活动，如果你没有自行车，可以用我们提供的自行车。我们的场馆在亚洲大饭店的附近，工人体育馆西门进去。如果还不知道怎么去可以13:30在NATOOKE集合，然后一起骑车前往。 As usual there will be bike polo at the Workers Gymnasium this weekend. But something that is not the same is the time we will play. We moved the start time back to 2:00pm because we want more daylight to play. If you have never played before and are interested please come out and we will teach you how. It does not matter what bike you have anyone can play, and if you don’t have a bike you can use one of ours. We meet on the west side of the Workers Gymnasium in-between that and the Asia Hotel. If you don’t know how to get there meet at the shop before 1:30 and ride with us there. 06/10 7:30pm > 周六夜聚在一起 @ NATOOKE商店 – Saturday Night Ride and Hangout @ Natooke Shop 周六夜聚在一起 会见在耍店在晚上7:30，然后骑向西单在一个开放的空间做一些动作和技巧。如果你不能做动作，你仍然可以一起去观看别人。 Meet at Natooke shop at 7:30pm and then ride towards Xidan for doing some skidding (or learning how to skid) and tricks on an open space there. This month Shenzhen is hosting the Asia Fixed Gear Championships. Last year we had a team from Natooke go down and we had a blast. A weekend of riding and fun events included a fast criterium race, as well as an alleycat. Bike polo, trick shows and beautiful bike competitions were also part of the schedule and you can expect much of the same for this year. The weather lately has been perfect. It’s no secret that fall is a favorite among many of us. The temperature is just right during the day and at night you get to wear your favorite sweater or jacket, (for me that would be my denim jacket that has traveled with me everywhere). It’s also no secret that we love bikes here at Natooke and we also love to ride them. Many of us ride in every kind of weather you can think of. Rain or shine we push our pedals so when the weather is great like this it’s icing on the cake (really good icing, like “cream cheese” or something like that). It’s a great time be out on your bike and a great time to visit Natooke. Feel free to come hang out with us, we look forward to it!

A long time ago when I first started to ride Fixed Gear I started skidding through tires faster than a driver from Tokyo Drift. I started buying the really cheap tires because I couldn’t afford the good ones but that didn’t help the problem because they would just run out faster. The bike shop that I was working for in the United States at the time started selling the Freedom Thickslick, which we all thought looked amazing. So when the time came to get a new tire I decided to try it out and I have not used another tire since. The tire is like a dream, riding with it is so comfortable it feels like your bike was transformed into a Mercedes Benz and when you go through the corners it grips like a Moto GP superbike. If you ride a bike without brakes and your back tire is the only thing stopping you from running into that taxi, person, bike, motorcycle, bus, or horse (“hay” it happens) that just cut you off then you need to know that you can stop. I love this tire because it has never let me down. In fact I have never skid completely through one of these tires, the only reason I have changed the tire at all is because I skid so much of the tire off that it was like I was riding squares rather than circles. All in all this is a great tire, the perfect solution for all the fixed gear riders out there that want a nice tire that will last a long time, and in my opinion there is nothing better. And even if you don’t ride fixed these tires are the perfect buy for any urban commuter bike. There are different levels that include Kevlar belts for puncture protection; long life rubber and something Freedom calls Urban Armor Casing which is practically indestructible. 26/09 8:30pm > 自行车骑行活动 @ NATOOKE商店 – Ride with David @ Natooke Shop 今 晚来Natooke和David一起来奥森公园夜骑来享受酷爽的秋日吧。今晚8:30将会举行环奥体公园骑行活动。届时会有一些适合死飞的有趣的游戏，比 如长刹、定杆比赛以及David的最爱—-drag races。温馨提示：初秋晚上奥森公园气温较低，请适量添衣以免着凉。 Come and meet David tonight at natooke and enjoy the crisp fall weather.  There will be a ride leaving around 8:30 to olympic park. At olympic park there will be some fun fixed gear games like long skidding, track stand competitions and David’s favorite, drag races.  Just come and have fun, it will be a slower pace so everyone can keep up and be comfortable we can save our enegry for the drag strip.  It will be chilly tonight and in olympic forest the temperature drops quite a bit so bring a light sweater or windbreaker if you get cold easily.  We hope to see lots of people tonight.

If you do not know how to get there, then please come to Natooke by 1:30pm and we will ride there together. Anyone can come, and you don’t have to have fixed gear to ride with us. Even if you don’t have a bike to ride, we will let you use one of ours so there are no excuses for not coming out!

It was late at night, and a rare time in Beijing where there are no cars on the road, save for the night shift taxi drivers and the few people returning home from working overtime at their jobs. This makes riding a bike so much easier and enjoyable when one does not have to battle constantly for position on the overcrowded city streets. It was quiet, I could hear the hum from my tires and my fixed-gear drive-chain was ticking steadily as always. I was alone for the moment and experienced yet another rare occurrence in China, solitude. In this moment I felt relaxed for I had no worries other than making sure my wheel was pointed straight and I pushed each pedal down when its turn came. This relaxation quickly changed to full on excitement as I came over the bridge that follows the Fifth Ring Road and around the corner at the top because as I was descending the short way down to the service rode I saw the largest collection of bikes that I have seen in Beijing so far. I can only describe it as mesmerizing as I struggled to focus on what was happening. There were bikes of every color of every size and they all had blinking lights that looked like red, white, and blue stars that had fallen from the sky. As I came closer the excitement only grew, and by the time I got to the group I didn’t want to stop riding, I wanted to break out in a full sprint right there. I could tell that this night was going to be special. … … …
