This Friday we’re getting into a little mischief.  It’s the last ride of this year, the year of the monkey. We’ll be celebrating the arrival of spring in classic Natooke fashion: with music and bikes!

Don’t let the cold keep you from coming out.  Get out and enjoy the quiet streets as we approach the upcoming holiday.

For Spring Festival we’ll be closed from January 27th until February 2nd.

Additionally, as we approach Spring Festival things begin to really slow down.  This means any special orders, unless made express, are subject to delay.  If placing any orders confirm with us the expected turnaround time.

We came into possession of this sturdy little steed.  Long left to sit, it’s former owner decided it was best to try and find it a new home.

At only ¥200 it’s a steal!  We’ve given the bike a complete overhaul to make sure it’s in perfect working order.  A new stainless steel basket on the front makes this the perfect grocery-getter.

The air in Chengdu during the winter has never been pretty.  If anyone can recall the the winter of 2012/2013 you may remember the particularly abysmal air quality.

The city was in a mad rush to lift the second ring road which kept the city constantly shrouded in an unusually nasty smog.  The smog’s still here but we’re grateful it’s not as bad as it was! Read more

Renovating our shop it really hit us: We’ve been open for a while now. And with that time comes some history. Looking through old photos certainly help to bring all that rushing back.

So keep an eye out as we regularly post our own #throwbackthursday photos. We’ll cover the history of our shop and community, the friends, events and start of certain traditions that make Natooke Chengdu what it is today.

Since we’ve opened we’ve kept the same general arrangement in our shop. As we’ve grown over the years the shop had come to feel increasingly cluttered. Every nook and cranny of our floor was occupied with shelving, parts and accessories.

When the FNR and other events started to increase in attendants the space in the shop didn’t allow much room for our friends and customers to breathe. Sure, it had that classic “hole-in-the-wall” bike shop feel but we didn’t feel like it did anyone justice.

To bring in the New Year we decided to move things around the shop to allow ourselves more space. Most of our stock has been moved upstairs for storage, but we’ve designed things to keep the same vibe while bringing a fresh look.
