Writing about a custom build for any one of our great supporters is always enjoyable.  Through the features of a frame and array of components chosen we get to feature an ardent cyclist and some of the highlights of their journey to get a great custom bike for themselves.  Not only is this just one of those occasions, its even a bit special for us too.

When Source Cycles added some new bling to their line of bikes we knew it would only be a matter of time before someone saw the value and picked on up for themselves.

Michael is no stranger to cycle touring and adventure the world over.  He and his wife have cycle toured through countless areas in New England and internationally in Tuscany, Vietnam, Turkey, Czech Republic, China twice, and more.  Our wheels crossed on their most recent adventure in China last year on a bicycle tour in Guangxi Province.  Michael was so impressed with a Source Cycles touring bike he tested while on the tour that he wasted no time ordering one of his own shortly after.

And he chose all the options!  Jones loop handlebars for that meaty, ergonomic feel and additional handlebar real estate for a Garmin, bell, bag, etc, and still have room to spare.  Since he plans to use this bike for commuting to work and around town back home he opted for an integrated rear rack to carry his panniers.

And did we mention the Rohloff Speedhub internally geared 14 speed rear hub?  He added that too.  If reading that doesn’t have any meaning to you and make your mouth water or heart ache with envy, nevermind.  To everyone else, lick your lips, swallow, and get in line because there are more coming out of Source Cycles’s workshop soon.
