Enhance Your Ride.

128303940

There’s a number of things you can do to improve the experience of riding, but nothing is more effective than setting a goal.  We’re not talking purely in fitness terms, but having a clear idea of what motivates you to ride can hugely impact the way you bring riding your bicycle into your everyday life.
Maybe you want to cycle to work at least 3 days a week.  It could be that you’ve set a goal to ride a certain amount each week.  Or it may just be that you are interested in finding a new place each time you go out and explore the world by bike.  Either way, a goal like any of these is a super practical way to enhance your experience on the road.  It tends to take the mundane feeling out of hopping on the old bicycle and setting out time and time again.

There are a few ways you can keep tabs on things.  We prefer using Strava.  It’s a social app that records your rides.  It provides a full set of ride data as well as an accurate map of where you rode.
To use it you need either an iPhone or a foreign Android phone. If you don’t fit that category there’s a Chinese equivalent called “行者” (Xingzhe).  Although the app lacks the features and robust community of Strava, it’s a simple way to map your rides.
Regardless, in an age where everybody is always connected to the world around them it seems a bit overwhelming to track one more thing.  So that’s where it helps to pick and choose how you use an application like this to improve your ride experience.  We’ve all at some point or another sat on both sides of the fence of this argument so we don’t need to go into great length about where to draw the line.  Simply use a tool like this to help keep tabs of your goals and share them with other around you if you so care to take the time.  If not?  So be it!  The ride is about you anyway.

To learn more about Strava, check out the site and register.  In Chengdu and want to find other like riders or explore new routes in your area?  Click the explore tab and see what options are out there. Or join our club so you can keep tabs on different people in our community.  For the competitive types there’s even a leader board keeping tabs on who’s riding most! Despite all these tools it doesn’t have to be competitive or social.  Don’t forget that most importantly, these are tools to improve your riding experience, whatever it may be.
